Reminder IIBA Meeting tonight as Wal-Mart home office

The regular monthly meeting of the Northwest Arkansas Chapter of the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) will be held Thursday, April 9, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Wal-Mart David Glass Technology Center, True North Conference Center.

The presentation will be:

“The IIBA Certification Process to Obtain the CBAP®”, Annette Coody, Senior Business Analyst, Wal-Mart, Inc.
The CBAP® (IIBA BA certification) is a bit daunting. The application process requires that you thoroughly document that you really do have more than five years of business analysis experience, and then there’s the exam itself. This is very important because we, as a profession, want the certification to be meaningful and strong because we know that simply memorizing a bunch of BA terms and techniques does not make a person a Business Analyst. Annette will describe the application and exam processes for those interested in pursuing certification.

About Annette Coody:
Annette is a Senior Business Analyst for Wal-Mart ISD specializing in Transportation Systems. She has over 25 years of experience in logistics, and is the NWA IIBA Chapter Vice-President of Education.

The NWA IIBA Chapter has been chartered since 2008, and held its first meeting on October 2, 2008, at the Wal-Mart campus in Bentonville, AR. The Chapter meets on the first Thursday of every month, and alternates locations between the Wal-Mart campus in Bentonville, AR, and the Tyson World Headquarters in Springdale, AR.

You can contact the NWA IIBA at info@nwa.theiiba.org.

Tulsa School of Dev: Snow and Code

SchoolOfDev_Tulsa_2009_jpg

Just completed a great day yesterday at the Tulsa School of DevRob Tennyson, Devlin Liles, and myself headed over very early.  All three of us gave presentations that were really well received.  Rob presented on Advanced Linq, Devlin covered some great info on Sql Server Reporting Services, and I gave a new presentation on using WCF Syndication to consume and create RSS/ATOM feeds.

Despite the snow, which came down like a Colorado blizzard, the turn out was good and we all had a great time. Thanks to David Walker for having me and the Arkansas gang out we had a great time.

Now it is time to finish gearing up for the Northwest Arkansas Code Camp on April 25th.  Hopefully we won’t have any snow.
