Northwest Arkansas Java User Group

image

I was recently contacted by Michael Akerman (mike@cavern.uark.edu), one of the leaders of the Northwest Arkansas Java User Group, he is looking to grow the membership of the group and start to hold monthly meetings.  Their current membership, according to the website, is about 25 and they primarily communicate via two listservs, which are listed on their website.

If you are working in Java this is a great opportunity to help build and sharp the Java Community in Northwest Arkansas.  If you are interested please contact Michael Akerman at mike@cavern.uark.edu and he can get you added to the list.

IIBA Meeting: “The IIBA Certification Process”

 nwaiiba

The regular monthly meeting of the Northwest Arkansas Chapter of the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) will be held Thursday, April 9, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Wal-Mart David Glass Technology Center, True North Conference Center (directions and maps are at the end of this message as PDF files). The presentation will be:

“The IIBA Certification Process to Obtain the CBAP®”, Annette Coody, Senior Business Analyst, Wal-Mart, Inc.

The CBAP® (IIBA BA certification) is a bit daunting. The application process requires that you thoroughly document that you really do have more than five years of business analysis experience, and then there’s the exam itself. This is very important because we, as a profession, want the certification to be meaningful and strong because we know that simply memorizing a bunch of BA terms and techniques does not make a person a Business Analyst. Annette will describe the application and exam processes for those interested in pursuing certification.

About Annette Coody:

Annette is a Senior Business Analyst for Wal-Mart ISD specializing in Transportation Systems. She has over 25 years of experience in logistics, and is the NWA IIBA Chapter Vice-President of Education.
